The curly tail grub needs no introduction, it is by far the most recognizable soft plastic lure in the world and it happens to be the perfect BWCA lure. It inmates all sorts of forage like leeches, minnows, and small fish. They are inexpensive and the 3" size can catch the grand slam (walleye, smallmouth bass, lake trout, and northern pike. Each pack comes with 10 baits and are made in the USA.
How to Fish:During the spring, cast out curly tail grubs on a jig towards the shorelines, slowly reeling them in. In the summertime, trolling or jigging towards the lake's bottom is effective mid-day for walleye and smallmouth. During sunrise/sunset, cast by fallen logs, grass, and lily pads for smallmouth bass.
Look for points, shelves, underwater structures, and rock piles. If there are strong winds during the day, you will want to fish on the windblown side of the lake.
Use 1/8 oz jig heads on calm days
Use 1/4 oz jig heads on windy days
Choosing Color: Use vibrant colors if you are fishing deep or in stained water and use natural colors if the water is clear and you are fishing in shallower water. Black can be used in any water/sunlight situation.
